Vice-President Olaf chaired the meeting.

Guests Stan Pike, Music Festival adjudicators- Evan Smith – Musical Theatre & Choral, Kerri MacPhee – Brass, Woodwind, Bands and Strings, Kristin English - Voice and Leslee Heys - Piano, adjudicator secretaries - Gail MacDonald, Ellen Janzen, Katie Healey, and Catherine Hicks and Secretary of the Music Festival Sandy Myles were introduced and welcomed.

After lunch program-chair Paula, President of the Music Festival Board gave a full introduction of the four adjudicators. Paula reported on the various changes that had to be made due to weather and she thanked Sandy for the rescheduling she sorted out successfully.

Kerri then spoke for the adjudicators on the value of music education and the benefits through research that a musical education imparts. She referred to different scientific research articles that showed how music education in schools improves and enhances many skills including for example verbal intelligence, exam performance, mathematic and social skills, planning and organisation   Music itself for all ages opens doors to human connections and one vital aspect of this is how to listen.

Kerri continued by looking at the benefits gained from participation in music festivals including the motivation and discipline needed to prepare for a festival and the social importance of working with others in preparing for group classes plus for all the joy of creating music to the best level possible. She thanked the Rotary Club for their support in organising and running the Corner Brook Music Festival.

Evan then sang and played a humorous song that everyone greatly enjoyed.

Karen, Vice-President of the Music Festival Board thanked the adjudicators for their presentation at the meeting and for making the festival such a positive experience for the festival’s participants.
