Guest Speaker
Rotarian Linda introduced the guest speaker Jane Hogan, a Wellness Engineer who spoke about her journey from being a practising civil engineer to an online health coach, podcaster, functional medicine certified health coach, certified Yoga teacher, speaker, wellness educator and author.
She explained after the death of her mother followed by a very stressful year, she developed rheumatoid arthritis which is a very painful and debilitating disease.
2016 was a turning point for her because as being an engineer she is a problem solver, she went back to school to the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, which is affiliated with the Institute for Functional Medicine. This resulted in 2019 Jane began coaching online clients and the following year 2020 she started sessions and continues to do so, to clients worldwide about Living Pain Free.
All this has led to many amazing experiences including meeting Dr Bruce Lipton a cell biologist and epigeneticist who has done noted research on the power of the subconscious mind.
Jane continued her presentation by explaining how an online business works by listing the different steps.
  1. Attract -She speaks and writes podcasts with herself as host for Wellness by Design with many about chronic pain, interview, summits and free gifts
  2. Invite – Online masterclasses, webinars, summit challenges,
  3. Amplify – Mentors and partners help to spread the word
  4. Deliver – Books, coaching, online guest speaking
In 2022, Jane partnered with HealthMeans for an online summit focusing on Living Pain Free. At this summit, 50 experts were interviewed and many, many online worldwide attendees participated.
Jane continued speaking of the book she has written Pain-Free on Purpose: Use Your Mind to Heal Your Body and Get Your Life Back.  She had brought copies for anyone interested in looking at and purchasing the book
Jane concluded her talk which was a straightforward view of an online business.
She spoke of the opportunities of an online business including lower overheads, access to large markets, being able to reach people throughout the world. She herself can work from anywhere, digital products can be created once but used often.  She then looked at some of the challenges she faces which include marketing never stops, the need to standout in a global market, it is hard to leave work, fostering partnerships takes time plus living in Western Newfoundland means travel to events is not always easy.
Her final comment is true whether business if online or offline that any business is built on relationships.
Jane answered several questions regarding online business and her work as a Wellness Engineer before being thanked by Rotarian Janice for her interesting and informative presentation.
