Notes from the Rotary Meeting 12.30pm Thursday, October 1 2020 President Chris welcomed everyone to the lunch meeting. Olaf passed out some tulip boxes to Rotarian buyers before the meeting began. Bruce Randell visiting Rotarian was welcomed. Program Verbon introduced Louise Gautier, creative director of CB Nuit Virtual Festival 2020 held on September 18-20th. Louise began by talking of the creation this year of a virtual festival. This was done through the creativity of web designer Aiden Deveraux and digital artist Drew Pardy. They created a virtual West Street with bubbles joining artistic projects to the community. Projects either were live, pre-recorded or ongoing through the weekend. She went on to talk about the project sponsored by the Club in which each of the three evenings Kate Sanders performed live stream dances linking her movement to songs and emotions. Louise showed a short clip of Kate performing. She also spoke of the visual artist Jane Reagh who used her cell phone to paint portraits of people. The difficulty this year was found in publicizing the event. The new virtual creative approach to the festival this year could be used again. This not-for-profit festival was financed mainly by grants and private sponsors so artists were paid but there was no charge to attendees. Louise is also involved with working with other virtual festivals in the Atlantic region and beyond. Community projects and involvement are an important part of CB Nuit. Chris thanked Louise before the meeting was adjourned at 1.30pm Next Rotary Lunch Meeting - Thursday, October 15th 2020 at Glynmill Inn at 12.30pm
