Notes from the Rotary Meeting 12.30pm Thursday, July 6, 2023
President Jackie chaired the meeting. Guests were introduced and welcomed.
Club Business
Gerry suggested a Rotary Social Outing to the Dinner Theatre at the Elks Lodge, 9 Carmen Avenue on July 18th at 6.30pm for dinner and show. The show by the Leroy’s Diner Gang is a brand-new summer 2023 show. The dinner show "A Tribute to Johnny Cash" is a warm, welcoming dinner theatre experience featuring music and comedy the whole family will be sure to love. An email will be sent out to Rotarians with further details and dinner entrée and dessert options.
Guest Presenter
Program - chair Kathleen introduced international trumpet virtuoso Jens Lindemann. Jens is the first classical brass soloist to receive the Order of Canada. He plays both jazz and classical throughout the world. He is based in Los Angeles where he is Professor with High Distinction at UCLA, and he is an international Yamaha artist.
Jens spoke about the value of music festivals and the good work done by the Rotary Club in this regard. He had five different trumpets on display about which he spoke, and then played a selection of pieces on the different trumpets.
He answered several questions before being thanked by Jackie and Martin.
The meeting was adjourned at 1.30pm.
