Notes from the Rotary Meeting 12.30pm Thursday, March 9, 2023
President Jackie chaired the meeting.
Guests – Evelyn Colford, Stan Pike, Jerry Bartlett, Mary Grover and George Keeping were introduced and welcomed.
 The guests were some of the volunteers for the Rotary Music Festival which will be held March 20th – March 23rd with the final concert on Saturday evening March 25th. Prospective corporate member Dean Porter also attended the lunch meeting.
Club Business
Jackie reminded everyone that March 8th was International Women’s Day.
During lunch, Rotarians at each table were given a short time to suggest topics of interest for future meeting speakers.
At the next lunch meeting on March 23rd the High School Speak-Off will be held with the winner sponsored by the Club, attending the Adventures in Citizenship Sessions in Ottawa in May.
Guest Speaker
Rotarian Ian spoke about the Corner Brook Rotary Music Festival and the role of volunteers. Rotarians attending the meeting were able to sign up to volunteer at different sessions.
Ian explained that this is the 59th year of the annual Rotary Music Festival The adjudicators for the 2023 festival are Leslie Heys for piano. Kristen English for voice, Evan Smith for musical theatre and Kerri MacPhee for brass, woodwind, band, and strings.  The Rose Bowl Concert will be on Thursday, March 23 at 7pm at the Arts and Culture Centre and the final concert will be held on Saturday March 25 also at the Arts and Culture Centre.
 Ian went on to speak of the role of the different volunteer staffers. 
Although most volunteer staffer times have been filled all Rotarians will be emailed to help fill all volunteer staffing positions not yet assigned.
