Notes from the Rotary Meeting 12.30pm Thursday, September 29, 2022
Olaf chaired the meeting held in the Humber Room, Greenwood Inn and Suites.

After lunch Olaf led various discussions.
- The first discussion was how best the club could help those who had lost much from hurricane Fiona. Olaf has spoken with Rotarian Brian of the Salvation Army who felt a monetary donation would be best as there was no need of clothes now. Paula who had been busy helping sort donated clothing agreed. Discussion followed and it was thought that Rotarians could be asked to donate up to $20 to the club with the money going to a Fiona Relief Fund. It was realized that many Rotarians could have individually already donated to help the victims of Fiona. The club would then match the amount donated. This amount would be given to the Red Cross and the federal government has agreed to match Red Cross donations to help Fiona Relief. Each $20 donated would then be quadrupled to $80.
- Olaf also mentioned that the Rotary Arts Centre would be holding a concert in October with the money raised going to help those who had suffered in the Fiona hurricane. It was suggested that if volunteers were needed for this event Rotarians would be pleased to help.
- The third item to be discussed came from the area meeting chaired by ADG Mel Dean. He had suggested that a joint meeting of Clubs be held in the fall at Dhoon Lodge. This would enable Rotarians in the area to get together to exchange ideas and socialize. 30 Rotarians would need to participate, and the lunch would cost around $25. The rental fee would be shared by the participating clubs. This sounded interesting and worth pursuing. Olaf will contact Mel.
- The Glynmill Inn will be able to hold the Rotary lunch meeting on October 13th. Verbon will check on a guest speaker for that meeting. The next meeting October 6 will be at the Greenwood Inn with more details to follow
- There was a short discussion about Corporate Rotary membership with a few suggestions being made.
